The Final Countdown – 2010 Ontario ParaSport® Winter Games

Kingston, ON — The Kingston 2010 Ontario ParaSport Winter Games Committee will be holding its Countdown to the Games event on Wednesday, October 28 between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. in Springer Market Square behind City Hall.

With only 100 days to go until the opening ceremonies, the Countdown event will also serve as the official kickoff to the volunteer recruitment program.  Approximately 250 volunteers are needed to help Kingston host the Games, which will be held from January 22nd to the 24th.  Anyone interested in registering to help out during the Games can do so at the Countdown, or through the website at:  http://winter.ontarioparasportgames.com.

Members of the Ontario Wheelchair Basketball Team will be giving a demonstration, and everyone is invited to try their hand at this challenging and tremendously popular sport.

There will also be a fundraising barbecue, manned by members of the Kingston Kiwanis Club, to support this worthwhile endeavour.  And special guest speakers will be on hand to welcome participants and provide the latest details of the Committee’s exciting plans.

“The Ontario ParaSport Winter Games help position our province as a leader in sport development, giving our athletes the chance to advance their skills and achieve their personal best in competition. The athletic spirit inherent in these Games inspires all Ontarians to live active, healthy lives.”
