OSHA Hosts Championship Saturday

LONDON, ON — The Ontario Sledge Hockey Association League Champions Day was held this past Saturday in Oshawa, Ontario. There was plenty of exciting action as Gold Medal games were played in four divisions. Sledge hockey is a fast-paced, exciting sport played primarily by physically-challenged individuals. OSHA has four leagues that compete during a regular season and a playoff structure that brings the competition down to the finalists. The Junior division is comprised of players 15 years of age and under while Intermediate competitors are 16 and over.
Congratulations to all teams for their accomplishments. Results were as follows:

Junior: Halton-Peel Cruisers 1  Buffalo Sabres 0
Intermediate “C” Hamilton Score 4 North Bay Ice Breakers 3 (shootout)
The Intermediate “B”: London Blizzard 2 Northern (Sudbury) Sliders 1
Intermediate “A”:  Halton-Peel Cruisers 1 Windsor Ice Bullets 0
This day was a great celebration of sledge with many members of Ontario Sledge Hockey Association on hand as well as special guests. These guests included Jeremy Booker and Graeme Murray from the Canadian National Sledge Hockey Team, Cathy Vincelli from Parasport Ontario and Phil McKee of the Ontario Hockey Federation. The host club, Durham Steelhawks, did a fabulous job in organizing this day and it was a fun showcase to close out the 2009-10 sledge hockey league schedule.
New players are always welcome and anyone interested in playing sledge hockey can get more information www.ontariosledge.com.
