Contributors of ParaSport® and Paralympics recognized

Saturday February 11th 2012-

It was a great evening at the Royal York Hotel where the 28th Great Valentine’s Gala was held. There was lots of great company and great entertainment, but the focus of the evening was recognizing the contributions of a select few people have made to the world of ParaSport and Paralympic Sport. Two great friends of ParaSport Ontario were recognized, Faye Blackwood and David Legg.

Faye Blackwood has sat on the Board of Directors of ParaSport Ontario for 11 years and has guided many Multi-Sport games to success as the VP of Competitions. As an athlete and as a coach Faye has given so much to the world of sport and has impacted numerous lives of ParaSport and Paralympic athletes.

David Legg, As a volunteer, David is the President for the Canadian Paralympic Committee, Director for Sport Alberta, and Chairperson of the Alberta Youth Olympic Symposium. David completed his Ph.D. at the University of Alberta under the guidance of then International Paralympic Committee President and IOC member Dr. Robert Steadward. In 2003, David was named one of Calgary Inc. Magazine’s “Top 40 under 40”.

Congratulations to both of you. The fact that you got to share the stage with Rick Mercer a fellow award winner must have been a blast.
