Peterborough Pacers Wheelchair Basketball Club
Supported by ParaSport Ontario and Ontario Wheelchair Sport Association the Peterborough Pacers are a fun team excited to continue their growth and development. The club welcomes new players looking to enjoy recreational wheelchair basketball as well as those looking to develop competitively.
Ottawa Odyssey Boccia Club
The Ottawa Odyssey Boccia Club was one of the first clubs developed under ParaSport Ontario’s Community Sport Development Program. The boccia club is run out of the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre and is open to individuals of all ages and disabilities. The club is welcomes new athletes and volunteers to come out and support the program.
Newmarket Shredders
ParaSport Ontario, Ontario Sledge Hockey Association and The City of Newmarket have partnered in the development of the Newmarket Shredders Sledge Hockey team based out to the accessible Magna Recreation Centre. The program includes practice evenings as well as pick-up ice-time as well and is open to players of all ages and abilities and equipment is provided.
Woodstock Sledge Hockey
The ParaSport Ontario, ARE-U-READY and the City of Woodstock have partnered to offer a sledge hockey program in Woodstock. ARE-U-READY is a free of charge adaptive recreation equipment program, providing recreation equipment, programs and resources to those in Oxford County who may seek it. The Woodstock Sledge Hockey program will continue in 2009, continuing to offer ways for children who have limited abilities to get involved in recreation! We hope to encourage all those interested from Woodstock, Ingersoll, Tillsonburg and Oxford County to come out and participate in this new and exciting sport!
Walden Cross Country Fitness Club ParaNordic Ski Program
The Walden ParaNordic Ski Program is one of the most recent programs to be a part of ParaSport Ontario’s Community Sport Development Program. With the support of Cross Country Ontario’s ParaNordic program the club program offers expert training, equipment and skiing opportunities for athletes of all abilities and offers training throughout the summer season.
Ontario ParaAlpine Race Training (OPART)
To help ParaAlpine skiers make the transition from recreational skiing to racing the Ontario ParaAlpine Race Training (OPART) program was developed with support from ParaSport Ontario’s Community Sport Development Program. Based out of Craigleith Ski Club in the Town of Blue Mountain the program offers coaching and development for intermediate level skiers of all physical disabilities.
Toronto Wheelchair Basketball Club
Developed out a drop-in program run in partnership between ParaSport Ontario, Ontario Wheelchair Sports Association and Bloorview Kids Rehab a wheelchair basketball based out of Toronto has been formed. Still in its formative phase the club is open to individuals of all ages and abilities and is run out of Bloorview Kids Rehab. As the club develops an official name and logo will be chosen. New athletes and club volunteers are invited to come and check them out!
