The Kingston 2010 Ontario ParaSport Winter Games Host Organizing Committee is thrilled with the opportunity to host the Games in our city! There is a huge wave of excitement building throughout Kingston in anticipation of the athletes competing here. City residents are enthusiastically stepping up to the plate to offer their support in helping us host the best ParaSport Winter Games yet!
We are excited about the fact that many athletes will be competing in several of our brand new, state-of-the-art venues. These include the Invista Centre, a four pad rink where sledge hockey will take place, and the Royal Kingston Curling Club for our Wheelchair Curling competitions. Both of these facilities recently opened their doors this past year. The third venue is the Kingston Military Community Sports Centre which contains an outstanding 25 meter competitive pool and great courts for Wheelchair Basketball and Wheelchair Rugby. The Base Commander at Canadian Forces Base Kingston is looking forward to welcoming the athletes to the Military Sports Complex and providing outstanding support throughout the Games. All sport venue managers are committed to providing the best possible conditions for the competitions and want to ensure that they meet the athletes' needs to the best of their ability.
Our Host Organizing Committee is thrilled and honoured to have Paralympic Wheelchair Curling Gold Medalist Karen Blachford as our Honourary Chair. Karen brings a wealth of experience as an athlete, mentor and advocate for sport for athletes with physical disabilities. Karen has hit the ground wheeling and is determined to assist in helping us provide all athletes with an outstanding and memorable experience at the 2010 Ontario ParaSport Winter Games.
On behalf of the 2010 Ontario ParaSport Winter Games Host Organizing Committee, I am looking forward to welcoming all of the Games participants to the Limestone City for a "Spectacular Winter Games." We can hardly wait for the Games to begin.
